Our schedule has changed for 2013
WCARC Club meetings will be held at 7:00pm on the second Thursday of each month
at the Peabody Public Library, 1160 E. State Rd. 205 - Columbia City, Indiana.
WCARC board meetings will be held at 7:00pm on the fourth Thursday of each month
at the Peabody Public Library, 1160 E. State Rd. 205 - Columbia City, Indiana.
All club members are welcome to attend board meetings and board members are encouraged to attend.
For those unfamliar with amateur (ham) radio, field day is an opportunity to test the amateur community's ability to provide communications in the face of emergency or disaster. Ham operators are frequently called upon to provide this service.
When the normalcy of landline telephones, cellular telephones, the internet and electric service are taken away by rising water, wind, earthquakes or other disasters, ham radio operators are frequently called upon for assistance. Ham operators routinely do this by assisting relief organizations, public service organizations and the general community with radio communications when normal lines of communications are disrupted. In addition, many ham operators are among those who assist the National Weather Service, as members of Skywarn, in tracking and reporting storm activity and damage.
Amateur operators and the general public alike are welcome to visit and participate in field day with the Whitley County Amateur Radio Club.

WCARC W5YI Test sessions will be held the last Saturday of January, April, July and October.
The next test session will be held Saturday October 27, 2012
from 9:00 till 11:00 AM at the Peabody Public Library
